The Ministry of Law and Justice has issued a notification transferring Justice Dama Seshadri Naidu, an additional judge of the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh High Court, to the Kerala High Court.
The notification, issued last Monday, directed the judge to assume charge on or before June 30. Naidu’s appointment has been confirmed by the Office of the Registrar General of the Kerala High Court. According to sources, the swearing in ceremony of the new judge will be held on June 30.
With the transfer of Justice Naidu, the number of judges in the Kerala High Court has reached 34.
He joined the Andhra Pradesh High Court in September 2013 as an additional judge. Later, he was appointed as judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court. Born in Ganganagunta, near Tirupati on June 19, 1962, Justice Naidu graduated in arts from the Andhra University, and studied LLB at the SV University, Tirupati. In March 1997, he enrolled as a member of the Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh.
Initially, he practiced only in Tirupati, in order to gain trial court experience. After shifting to Hyderabad in the early 2000s, he started practice in the Andhra Pradesh High Court. He has represented many corporate entities and nationalised banks, apart from private clientele.
He was a guest faculty at the Andhra Pradesh Judicial Academy. He taught the Hindu Succession Act-1956 and the Negotiable Instrument Act-1881. He has authored the ‘Law of Stamp Duty and Registration in Andhra Pradesh’ and the ‘Andhra Pradesh Education Code’.
