Kode Durga Prasad Appointed Special DG Of CRPF

New Delhi: Senior IPS officer Kode Durga Prasad on Saturday night was appointed as the Special Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

 K Durga Prasad, previously sacked as the Chief of the SPG, was appointed as the Special DG of  the CRPF.
A 1981-batch IPS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre, Prasad was unceremoniously removed as chief of the SPG — which provides security to the prime minister, former prime ministers and their family members — during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trip to Nepal to attend the SAARC Summit. The name of Prasad was cleared by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The appointment order said Prasad’s tenure will take effect from the date of his joining the post and up to the date of his superannuation in February, 2017 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Vivek Dube, Additional Director General, CRPF, a 1981 batch IPS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre, was also appointed as Special Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on in-situ basis from the date on which Durga Prasad, assumes the charge of the post of special DG of CRPF and and up to the date of Dube’s superannuation in March, this year or until further orders, whichever is earlier,
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet cleared to appoint D P Sinha, Special Director of the Intelligence Bureau as Secretary, (security) in the cabinet secretariat.
Sinha was in the race for IB Director but the government chose Dineshwar Sharma to head the country’s premier internal spy agency.
Sinha is 1979 batch IPS of Manipur Tripura cadre and has been working in the IB for a long time.
Ashok Prasad, who was also Special Director of IB and lost the race for the top job, was made Special Secretary (Internal Security) in the Ministry of Home Affairs in place of Prakash Mishra, who was moved as DG, CRPF.
In SPG, the government had appointed Vivek Srivastav, a Gujarat cadre IPS officer as IG and Deputy Director while no Director has been appointed.
The Modi administration also appointed A R K Kini, Additional Director General, BPR&D, a 1981 batch IPS officer of Bihar cadre, as Special Director General of the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) on in-situ basis from the date on which Durga Prasad, assumes the charge of the post of special DG of CRPF and and up to the date of Kini’s superannuation in November, 2017 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
